An ambulatory-polyclinic union was opened in the village of Nikozi, the Tskhinvali region on December 10, which was funded by the support of State United Social Insurance Fund of Georgia and UN development program. The opening was attended by Gigi Tsereteli, chair of Healthcare and Social Issues Committee of Parliament; Mikheil Kareli, Governor of Shida Kartli; Davit Meskhishvili and Irakli Giorgobiani, Deputy Ministers of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia; Ioseb Bregvadze, First Deputy of SUSIF; Nino Okribelashvili, chair of SUSIF Supervising Council and other officials.
The aforementioned facility was ruined during ethnic conflict after which the Georgian population of the Tskhinvali region was left without ambulance service. The rehabilitation of the Nikozi dispensary-polyclinic union was carried out under the state employment program of 2004. For this purpose SUSIF assigned 39.100 GEL according to the decision of the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs. The said sum was spent on full rehabilitation of the facility and the dispensary was fully equipped with up-to-date equipment under 10.000 GEL allocated by the UN development program.
